Galal Walker: (吴伟克 , Ph.D. Cornell University)

Professor of Chinese and Director of the National East Asian Languages Resource Center , is directing the OSU Chinese Flagship Language Initiative in Chinese at Ohio State. He has directed language programs at the college level for over twenty years, adopting and developing a wide variety of approaches to the study of Chinese language and culture, including immersion programs in China and the United States , individualized instruction, community-based study in China , and innovative modes of classroom instruction. His professional goal is to integrate the study of language and culture to the point that American students have a clear understanding of what it means to realize their intentions when communicating with persons from Chinese speaking communities. He has played many roles in the development of the learning and teaching of Chinese and other less commonly taught languages in the United States . In 2003, he was awarded the “China Language and Culture Friendship Award” by the National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language of the Ministry of Education, People's Republic of China.

Jianqi Wang: (王建琦, Ph.D. University Of Hawaii)

Associate Professor of Chinese at The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio.  Professor Wang is a leading expert in training learners how to participate in spontaneous discourse. His published work with Yale Language Series, " Tell It Like It Is: Natural Chinese for Advanced Learners ", is the first of its kind in the field of Chinese language pedagogy for training advanced Chinese learners in professional language utilization. With support from the Freeman Foundation, Profs. Wang is developing " Making Your Case ", an interactive computer program that trains learners' verbal articulation in spontaneous professional discourse. Profs. Wang has been the leading negotiator for our programs, such as US/China Links, Chinese Flagship. Within the capacities of an experienced negotiator and pedagogue, Profs. Wang has also created a course entitled " Negotiating in Chinese Culture " that trains students in cross-cultural negotiation skills. Profs. Wang has been working with the US/China Links program since its inception and has worked on all aspects of the program. Profs. Wang's duties will focus on the technical aspects of maintaining a program of study focused on broadcast media and in securing access to media sources in China .

Xiaobin Jian: (简小滨, Ph.D. The Ohio State University)

Associate professor of Chinese at The College of William and Mary , Williamsburg , Virginia . Profs. Jian has been coordinator of the William and Mary's Chinese Program from 1990 to 2000 and from 2002 to the present. While he has taught a wide range of course of Chinese language, literature, and culture, Profs. Jian has focused his research interests on training advanced Chinese language learners in authentic Chinese cultural context. Profs. Jian's expertise focuses on the following areas: develop instructional materials and pedagogies applying the study of Chinese behavior culture to training learners to effectively interpret others and establish themselves in a Chinese society; develop courses and materials utilizing audio-video materials and internet technologies to approximate authentic cultural environment and experience; design and direct study and internship abroad programs in China that emphasize real world performance and in-depth participation in the local community. Along with extensive in-the-field experience, Profs. Jian has authored and co-authored several books and articles in these areas. Profs. Jian has been working with the US/China Links program since its inception. He has worked on all aspects of the program, especially the internships and training Americans to function successfully in Chinese organizations.

Feiqian (Sunny) Zong: (宗菲倩, M. A. The Ohio State University)

Program Manager, The OSU Chinese Flagship Program at the Ohio State University. Ms. Zong has dual Master's degrees in Human Resources Management and Accounting from the Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University . She also holds CPA certification in both the State of Ohio, USA and in China . Ms. Zong has an education and relevant business experience in both China and the U.S., and has extensive contacts throughout China. Her experience as a Financial Control Officer with HSBC and as an Internal Auditor with the Ohio Department of Administrative Services required extensive work in financial management, personnel management, and coordination with third parties. Ms. Zong is responsible for identifying the tasks and resources required for program operation.
