Galal Walker: (吴伟克, Ph.D. Cornell University)

Professor of Chinese and Director of the National East Asian Languages Resource Center , is directing the OSU Chinese Flagship Language Initiative in Chinese at Ohio State. He has directed language programs at the college level for over twenty years, adopting and developing a wide variety of approaches to the study of Chinese language and culture, including immersion programs in China and the United States, individualized instruction, community-based study in China, and innovative modes of classroom instruction. His professional goal is to integrate the study of language and culture to the point that American students have a clear understanding of what it means to realize their intentions when communicating with persons from Chinese speaking communities. He has played many roles in the development of the learning and teaching of Chinese and other less commonly taught languages in the United States . In 2003, he was awarded the “China Language and Culture Friendship Award” by the National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language of the Ministry of Education, People's Republic of China.

Steven Knicely

Mr. Knicely is the head of the Chinese Language Program at The Ohio State University. He has been the recipient of several degrees including a BA in Russian and English, MA in Russian, MA in Chinese and a most recently a Juris Doctorate. His responsibility as an Academic Program Specialist in Chinese is to facilitate operation of the undergraduate language program, which includes teaching courses, training and supervising Graduate Teaching Associates, placement testing, materials and curriculum development.
