About the Program

The Chinese Flagship Program provides two undergraduate courses of study:

1. Bachelor’s Degree with Flagship Certification in Advanced Chinese. Students may also pursue a single bachelor’s degree in the non-language field of their choice and Chinese language study through Chinese 753 or equivalent and at least 6 Chinese Flagship courses. Of the six, three will be consecutive domain tutorials in which the student is paired with a Chinese expert in his/her field to develop domain expertise. Participate in a 3-6 month Flagship-arranged overseas internship related to the non-language field of study as well as one semester of direct enrollment in classes at Nanjing University.

2.Combined Degree option (at least one Bachelor’s degree + Master’s degree in advanced Chinese) During their freshman and sophomore years, participants in the combined degree program complete prerequisite Chinese language classes while also pursuing a separate non-language major. Students begin graduate-level Chinese coursework during their junior or senior year, culminating with their formal application to the Flagship M.A. program. Flagship M.A. students will complete at least 9 Flagship courses and participate in a 3-6 month Flagship-arranged overseas internship related to the non-language field of study as well as one semester of direct enrollment in classes at Nanjing University.
