Blakemore Freeman Fellowship for Advanced Asian Language Study

Chinese Bridge Scholarship

Excellent competitors in the "Chinese Bridge", the Chinese Language Proficiency Competition for the world college, will be eligible for the scholarship. There are four kinds of scholarship:

  • Academic Degree Scholarships: this scholarship will be awarded to the 3 first winners who won in the finals.
  • Short-term Summer Research and Study Scholarships: this scholarship will be awarded to the 5 prizewinners who won in the finals.
  • A scholarship for a 15 days China cultural study tour: these scholarships will be awarded to the 7 third prizewinners who won in the finals.
  • Scholarships will be awarded to outstanding competitors who participated in the preliminary contest. These scholarships will be awarded to outstanding competitors in the preliminary contest who did not enter the finals. The scale of the preliminary contests will also decide them.

Chinese Government Special Scholarship

In order to increase the cooperation and understanding between the people of China and other countries, develop outstanding international talent and improve the perception of China’s higher education, under the mandate of the Department of Education, Fudan University is opening application for full-time postgraduate studies under the 2009 Chinese government scholarship program. Department of State Critical Languages Fellowship

Sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC), the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program will offer intensive summer language institutes overseas in eleven critical need foreign languages for summer 2009. The CLS Program was launched in 2006 to offer intensive overseas study in the critical needs foreign languages of Arabic, Bangla/Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, Turkish and Urdu. In 2007, Chinese, Korean, Persian, and Russian institutes were added along with increased student capacity in the inaugural language institutes. Frank Fang Memorial Scholarship

The East Asian Studies Center at The Ohio State University

East Asian Studies Center Undergraduate Writing Prize - Awards will be given for work that combines synthesis of existing scholarship with original analysis, in the following categories: Research papers (10 pages or more) and Essays (10 pages or less). The papers/essays can derive from any discipline and methodological framework as long as issues pertinent to East Asia are either the focus of the paper or form a vital component of a comparative project. Intensive Chinese Language Scholarship - Scholarships for intensive Chinese language study during the academic year. The purpose of these awards is to encourage students to accelerate their acquisition of Chinese language skills while pursuing double majors or dual degree programs in Chinese language and related fields. Maximus Scholarship and Competition – The Maximus Scholarship is awarded on a competitive basis to admitted Columbus campus students; those considered rank in the top three percent of their classes with ACT composite scores of 32 or higher or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math scores of 1420 or higher. Access Merit Scholarships - Combination of scholarships, need-based grants, and work-study opportunities covering the full in-state cost of education at Ohio State. Morrill Scholars Program (MSP) - The Office of Minority Affairs offers this program to promote diversity, multiculturalism, and leadership. Students who accept these awards agree to participate in governing, managing, or maintaining their residence halls in exchange for a reduced cost of living on campus.
