President Gee opened the University’s new Gateway Office in Shanghai, China on June 29th, the first physical portal in another country. On July 3rd and 4th, President Gee visited Qingdao, “where the University's Flagship Chinese Language Program has a center offering a summer immersion program. Our flagship program extends well beyond university education; it reaches out to design and establish Chinese language programs in elementary and secondary schools throughout Ohio. The comprehensive program is recognized as a model for the advanced language education necessary for global leaders of all kinds.” (In President Gee’s speech of “Universities as a Catalyst of Innovation” at the American Chamber of Commerce) President Gee's visit received a warm welcome by all the Flagship students and staff members in Qingdao.
